So, what is walking football all about?
Pictured above is Lesley (late 60s) and Jeremy (late 70s) who say 'If WE can, then YOU can'.
The appeal of walking football is growing at a phenomenal rate, with tournaments being held across Europe and groups using the opportunity to go on football tours. We spoke to coach Nigel Hillyard about the game and his new Friday sessions in Cambourne;
“If you used to play football, it’s like a drug and you think you can’t play again, but all of a sudden you can play again and think you’re 30 years younger. When people do play it, they are surprised at how much exercise is involved, how much fun it is. It’s a form of activity, it’s camaraderie, it’s all the old stuff in the changing rooms, but what actually makes it better is that you don’t have to have played football before to start playing football now".
New Friday morning sessions launched - have fun, get fit, make friends!
Our new Friday morning Walking Football sessions for the over 50s started in November. These sessions are mixed gender and no experience is necessary – just come along and have some fun.
Sessions will happen weekly 1000-1100 on the 3G pitches at Everyone Active in Cambourne. The sessions are £3 per session (payable by card on the day) thereafter.
The Dugout will be open until 1200 serving delicious hot and cold snacks - a great place to socialise afterwards!
Have fun, get fit, make friends in a relaxed enjoyable and safe environment.
